I work for the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies () and am based in LSHTM at the Centre for Global Chronic Conditions. My work focusses on health, health systems and health policies in Europe. I am author and editor of Observatory studies, Health Systems in Transition (HiT) country profiles, State of Health in the EU country health profiles, and policy briefs. I am also involved in policy dialogues and rapid response reports to Observatory partners and contribute to the Health Systems and Policy Monitor (HSPM) and the COVID-19 Health Systems Response Monitor (HSRM). Most recently, I have been coordinating the Health Systems in Action Insights series, providing accessible summaries of health systems for European countries outside the EU.

Over the course of my career, I have undertaken work on a wide range of topics related to health systems and policies in Europe, including challenges to health and health policy in the countries of South Eastern Europe, a study on the appropriateness of the Millennium Development Goals to the countries of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, an evaluation of the Task Force on Communicable Disease Control in the Baltic Sea Region, research on health and human rights in Turkmenistan, a study on capital investment in Europe, a study on migration and health in the European Union, and a study on public health services in Europe.
