This term’s film series, which looks at sex and its historical representation, opens with a film exploring young men and women’s attitudes towards contraception in the mid-1980s. Produced as part of the Family Planning Association (FPA)’s “Men Too” campaign, it sought to shift perceptions of male responsibility in the era of the AIDS epidemic. Katie Jones (University of Birmingham) will discuss the film, providing expert comment from her doctoral research on masculinities, contraception and sexual health in late twentieth century Britain.
