MRC LID is a partnership between St George鈥檚, University of London (SGUL) and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). This successful seven-year doctoral training partnership has already administered 66 studentships. Studentships include:
- tuition fees and stipend
- annual funding for research training, travel, and conference
- competitive flexible funding for fieldwork, public engagement projects, etc.
- support for a three-month internship

In an effort to tackle systemic barriers experienced by students in progressing to postgraduate research degree programmes, a goal of the doctoral training partnership is to widen participation and cultivate a supportive, inclusive, and diverse community of future scientific leaders.
This includes a ring-fenced scheme for UK students from ethnic minority backgrounds.
